Successful year for SPS automotive performance

With the championship title in the International GT Open and numerous class victories and podium finishes at highlight events, SPS automotive performance can look back on a successful year in motorsport. The Obersulm-based team also realised many successful events in the track day sector.

SPS automotive performance can look back on a strong 2025. In the International GT Open, the team and its drivers Valentin Pierburg (GER) and Dominik Baumann (AUT) won the PROAM championship for the second time since 2018 in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 #20. In an exciting season finale at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the duo prevailed over their competitors and celebrated a well-deserved championship. Their teammates Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler (both SUI) in the sister car #54 also put in a strong performance in 2025. Despite skipping the endurance races at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza, the likeable Swiss duo finished fourth in the PROAM category. With a total of three class wins and twelve further class podium finishes, the team can look back on an impressive season in this popular GT3 series.

The joint venture with the renowned US team The Heart of Racing was once again crowned with success in its third year of existence. After finishing second last year, the trio of Ian James, Ross Gunn (both GBR) and Zacharie Robichon (CAN) in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 #27 won the Bronze category at the Bathurst 12 Hour on the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit. The team also achieved strong results in other races under the name Heart of Racing by SPS. A second place overall and class victory for Ian James, Gray Newell and Hannah Grisham (both USA) at the 12H Mugello, as well as a strong fourth place in the GT3-AM category at the 24H Dubai, are extremely good overall results.

Another highlight of the motorsport season was the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. SPS automotive performance teamed up with CrowdStrike Racing to compete in the world's largest GT3 race at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps under the name CrowdStrike Racing by SPS. Starting from the pit lane, George Kurtz, Colin Braun (both USA), Ian James (GBR) and Nicky Catsburg (NED) drove the Mercedes-AMG GT3 #4 to third place in the Pro-Am class in this prestigious race despite a few setbacks, thanks to a flawless team performance.

SPS automotive performance also enjoyed further success away from the racetrack. Last weekend, the team was honoured in Affalterbach for its second place in the category of best GT3 teams in the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship in a festive setting. After winning this brand-internal classification in 2022, this strong placing once again confirms SPS automotive performance's strong commitment to customer racing and its reliability in GT3 racing.

In the track days sector, one highlight was the GERCollector track day at the Nürburgring, where SPS automotive performance took to the track with the Bugatti Bolide and the Pagani Huyara R, attracting a great deal of attention from spectators and industry professionals alike with these spectacular vehicles. Both super sports cars were also eye-catching attractions at the popular MYLE Festival in Munich. Here, these extravagant vehicles thrilled fans and were a popular motif at the SPS automotive performance stand. Other exciting events, such as the ‘Concurso de Elegancia Costa del Sol’ in Marbella, where one of the vehicles we looked after won the ‘Best in Show’ award, rounded off an extremely successful year for SPS automotive performance.

Stephan Sohn, CEO of SPS automotive performance: "I am very proud and happy that we were able to celebrate another championship title in 2025. The strong results in the highlight races also show that we have a strong team that is absolutely capable of winning. We also have a strong team in our other sectors, which implements great projects such as our track days. A big compliment to everyone who contributed to our success."
