SPS automotive performance heads to Paul Ricard in optimistic mood

The International GT Open marks the halfway point of its season this coming weekend at the Circuit Paul Ricard. After good showings in the last races at the Hungaroring, both Reece Barr (IRL) and Mikaeel Pitamber (RSA) in the #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the Swiss duo of Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler in the #54 sister car want to be back on the podium in their classes.

The International GT Open will hold its sixth and seventh races of the season at the tradition-steeped circuit in the south of France. This event also represents the mid-season of this popular GT3 racing series. Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler, who finished on the class podium here last season, are currently seventh in the fiercely contested PROAM category, just ten points behind the championship leaders. Racing again under the name CBRX by SPS, Müller and Mettler are aiming for top positions in their class again after a podium at the last event at the Hungaroring.

Eighth overall is Reece Barr and Mikaeel Pitamber in the #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3 after five rounds. The Irish-South African duo are contesting their first season together and showed an upward curve of form during the first half of the season, finishing in the points in three of the five races contested. At Circuit Paul Ricard, Barr and Pitamber are among the extended circle of candidates for the overall podium in the demanding PRO class.

The 70- and 60-minute rounds of the International GT Open at the Circuit Paul Ricard will start on Saturday and Sunday at 13:15 CEST and 13:50 CEST respectively.
