SPS automotive performance aims for championship points again in Hungary

At the third round of the International GT Open at the Hungaroring, SPS automotive performance wants to be back in the fight for championship points. After the setback at the last event in Spa-Francorchamps, the Willsbach-based team is highly motivated to make up lost ground.

After the unfortunate results of the last race in Spa-Francorchamps, where both cars unfortunately remained without championship points due to unforced incidents, SPS automotive performance wants to start its race to catch up at the Hungaroring next weekend. Reece Barr (IRL) and Mikaeel Pitamber (RSA) are among the favourites for podium places in their #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3 after their good performances so far this season. Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler (both SUI) also took a class win in the PROAM standings this season with the sister car #54 under the name CBRX by SPS and will be aiming for a top position in their class again next weekend.

In contrast to the last event in Spa-Francorchamps, the Hungarian Grand Prix circuit near Budapest will once again host two races. The first round over 70 minutes will start on Saturday, 17 June at 14:25 CEST. The lights will go green for the second race over a distance of one hour on the following Sunday at 14:00 CEST. 

Reece Barr, #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3: "We have shown a lot of potential in the first two races and the Hungaroring is a good match for the Mercedes. If the stars align, I think we're in for a great weekend. A real opportunity to climb back up the ladder. The season still has a bit to go. So we will give everything."

Mikaeel Pitamber, #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3: "A new race weekend, a new track and a new chance to bounce back. I can't wait to be back in the car. I'm really looking forward to this challenging circuit."

Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: "After things didn't go optimally for us in Spa, we are very motivated for the Hungaroring. The goal must be to score as many points as possible in Hungary. The track is very demanding and there are only a few overtaking opportunities. A good qualifying will be decisive here. We are fully determined to succeed in this task."
