Podium for SPS automotive performance at 12H Mugello

After good results at the season opener in Dubai, team SPS automotive performance scores again in the second round of the 24H-Series 2017 in Mugello. The 12-hour race in Tuscany took place on the Mugello Circuit from March 17th to 18th. Team SPS automotive performance from Willsbach started with two Mercedes AMG GT3s. The cockpit of the car with no. 16 was occupied by Valentin Pierburg, Tim Müller and Jürgen Krebs. The driver’s team around Alex Coigny, Iradj Alexander and Richard Feller took the steering in the car with the blue Livery and start number 24.

SPS automotive performance was perfectly prepared and the stints in the free practice sessions on Friday went without technical problems. For the first part of the race on Saturday, the starting positions for the two SPS GT3 at the end of the qualifying were P13 (P3 A6-AM) and P22 (P7 A6-AM) were.

The first part of the race consisted of a 4-hour stint. At the end, the two SPS cars occupied positions 15 (P4 A6-AM) and 16 (P5 A6-AM). Both SPS GT3s pushed forward in the second part and put themselves into the top 10 after a total of 7 hours of racing time!

Afterwards the car no. 16 with Valentin Pierburg, Tim Müller and Jürgen Krebs was innocently involved in an accident and therefore went to the box. Engines off – no alternative! At this time the SPS GT3 was 2nd in class and had only two hours to go. How annoying is that?!

For the SPS Mercedes AMG GT3 No. 24, it went better: it crossed the finish line under the checkered flag on P3 and thus gained a podium position in the class A6-AM. It was also a great success because it was the first time with this constellation.

Overall an excellent success for team SPS automotive performance: a 3rd place and another podium only prevented because the car #16 was innocently involved in an accident. it could have been worse…

Already in two weeks the next race waits for SPS automotive performance: The Red Bull Ring calls for the 12h race on the 7th – April 2017!
