SPS automotive performance starts at the Sarthe

SPS automotive performance will enter a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Michelin Le Mans Cup as part of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. In further cooperation with The Heart of Racing, Gray Newell (USA) and Valentin Pierburg (GER) will take a seat in the cockpit of starting number 25.

The traditional race on the Circuit des 24 Heures is one of the oldest and most famous motorsport events in the world. As part of this legendary event, SPS automotive performance will be represented on the grid of the "Road to Le Mans" race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup in cooperation with The Heart of Racing with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 #25 under the Heart of Racing by SPS entry. After the 24H Dubai, the Bathurst 12 Hour and the 12H Mugello, the blue Mercedes-AMG GT3 of the German-American joint venture will be on track for the fourth time this season. Heart of Racing will also enter two cars in the LMGT3 class in the 24-hour race and would like to take the opportunity to also enter the Mercedes-AMG GT3 on the track at the Sarthe.

Gray Newell and Valentin Pierburg will be at the wheel of the car in the two 55-minute races at the Circuit des 24 Heures. Gray Newell, as part of the Heart of Racing family, took two class victories and overall podiums in the 24H Series races at Spa-Francorchamps and Mugello last season in the Mercedes-AMG GT3. At the 24H Dubai 2023, Newell finished third in the GT3-AM together with his team-mates. Valentin Pierburg is a familiar face returning to the Obersulm-based team. In recent years, Pierburg has contested numerous races for SPS automotive performance, winning multiple victories and championships, including the PROAM championship in the 2018 International GT Open, the team championship in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe and class victory at the 24 Hours of Spa in the 2022 season. Valentin Pierburg is now returning to the cockpit of the SPS automotive performance Mercedes-AMG GT3. Both drivers are highly motivated to achieve a good result in this special atmosphere.

The first race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup starts on Thursday, June 13 at 18:30 CEST. Shortly before the 24-hour race on Saturday, June 15 at 10:35 CEST, the starting grid will present itself to the crowds in the second race of the weekend.

Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: "The race weekend at Le Mans is always something very special and the place of longing for many motorsport enthusiasts. We are delighted to be back on the grid this weekend together with Heart of Racing. The competitors look very competitive. But I think we will be able to secure a good result."
