Third successful race of the International GT Open for the SPS automotive performance team in Spa-Francorchamps

Last weekend the SPS automotive performance team went to Belgium. The next challenge awaits them – The scene of the third round of the International GT Open Season 2018: The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps!

After the Free Training at the first days, it got serious on Saturday: The 1. Qualifying and the Race 1 should be done today. Finished the 1. Qualifying, SPS automotive performance with the Mercedes AMG GT3 and driver duo Tom Onslow-Cole and Valentin Pierburg got P7 in the ProAM-class. Valentin Pierburg did the first Stint in Race 1, because he completed the Qualifying. The positioning is a very good result especially in regard of the disadvantage in the BoP towards Ferrari and BMW. Furthermore in the most cars of the ProAm-class the pro drivers drove the Qualifying…

From the start position 7 the two drivers Valentin Pierburg and Tom Onslow-Cole completed an amazing race and drove confidently on P1!!! A fantastic result and a perfect job of the two drivers and the whole team of SPS automotive performance. The car was perfectly balanced and had no issues throughout the race. This was the third win of the SPS Mercedes in the “Richard Mille” design in the current season.

At the second race day they could continue the performance of the day before, so they got the pole position in Qualifying 2. The lap time of 2:16.389 was enough for the third starting position in the overall classification.

In the second race it was a hard fight for positions and the competitors were very tough. Thus, Valentin Pierburg and Tom Onslow-Cole finished the race on position 3 in the ProAm class. This means another podium for SPS automotive performance team with team manager Stephan Sohn! With the points from the two races the duo got almost position 1 in the championship with only three points missing.

Team manager Stephan Sohn:

“An excellent race weekend for the SPS automotive performance team! I would like to thank the two drivers and the whole team for this perfect performance! In the next round of the International GT Open we will be in Budapest. There, we want to continue the good performance from the last races!”
