Successful race weekend for SPS automotive performance in Spa-Franchorchamps!

Last weekend Valentin Pierburg & Tom Onslow-Cole in the Richard Mille Mercedes (#20) and Miguel Ramos & Fabrizio Crestani in the Vodafone Mercedes (#10) participated in the 3rd round of the International GT Open in Spa-Francorchamps. On Saturday SPS automotive performance set on Fabrizio Crestani in the first qualifying. With a good lap time of 2:15.844 he qualified the #10 for pole position in the Pro Class and – through a subsequent positioning correction – also in the overall standings. Valentin Pierburg positioned the Mercedes AMG GT3 with start number #20 in 6th place.

In the first race, Pierburg and Onslow-Cole were able to extend their lead in the championship. They scored good points with P9 in the overall standings and P4 in the ProAm class. Ramos and Crestani showed an excellent performance and finished the race on P2 in the overall and class standings. All in all a very satisfying result for the whole team and a great podium place for Crestani and Ramos!

On Sunday the two driver pairings continued their perfect performance in qualifying. Tom Onslow-Cole showed an outstanding performance and reached his third pole position in a row with a lap time of 2:15.780! Miguel Ramos positioned the #10 on P6 in the overall standings and P4 in the Pro class. Especially for the driver duo in the Richard Mille Mercedes exciting conditions for the second race, because the podium was within reach.

Both Mercedes AMG GT3 started promisingly in the late afternoon. For Valentin Pierburg and Tom Onslow-Cole everything went according to plan. They focused on victory and were rewarded with P1 in the class standings and P3 in the overall standings. So to speak a double podium for the victorious driver pairing and an extension of the lead in the championship to 10 points! Ramos in the cockpit of the #10 was pushed away by a competitor in the duel at the beginning of the race. Despite this incident, Fabrizio Crestani finished the race fifth in the class standings and seventh overall. Still a top result and important points for the championship classification. The next round will take place in mid-July in Austria at the Red Bull Ring.
