Successful premiere at the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup Series at Paul Ricard

The team SPS automotive performance started from 24 – 25 June at the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup Series at Circuit Paul Ricard (F). This was the first entry in this series ever for the team SPS from Willsbach which launched a newly built Mercedes AMG GT3 and driver trio Lance David Arnold, Valentin Pierburg and Alex Müller.

After some initial difficulties by a damaged front splitter, through which only 3 minutes could be driven in free practice, 46th place was the standing after the following qualifying. In the race, things went much better and the drivers were able to take several positions in the extremely strong field. The team was prepared: All pit stops were done perfectly and the car ran over the entire race distance at the 6h / 1000km race without problems. By consistently fast lap times and the excellent teamwork the standing in the end was P21 for the SPS Mercedes AMG GT3 with startnumber 80.

For the first race in this series team manager Stephan Sohn draws a very positive conclusion:

“The Blancpain Endurance Series GT Cup is one of the strongest GT3 series. There are about 30 cars within one second! We have used our first start in this series to learn the rules, procedure and organization and of course also to gain data for future entrys. After a non-optimal qualifying still gaining P21 is an excellent performance from the whole team! The decision for further launches will be made in the near future, but due to the positive impression of the race weekend at Paul Ricard it is most likely that we will compete at further events! “
