Successful 200th race of the International GT Open at the Red Bull Ring in Austria

Highly motivated and perfectly prepared, the SPS automotive performance team started into the 200th race of the International GT Open. Rain was expected for both races, which promised exciting racing conditions. After a solid test day on Friday, Valentin Pierburg in number 20 in the Mercedes AMG GT3 and Miguel Ramos in the cockpit of number 10 in the bronze test. Both were able to place the cars on P1 in the ProAM and Pro classes. The first race on Saturday started #20 of P7 in the ProAm class and #10 of P4 overall. For Ramos and Crestani the podium was within reach. Unfortunately this plan was not feasible because a drive-through penalty threw the Mercedes back.

After an exhausting race to catch up, #10 was still able to position himself on P9 overall. The Mercedes with #20 crossed the finish line on a solid fourth position, so there was no additional handicap for the pit stop for the second race on Sunday. The high expectations of Valentin Pierburg and Tom Onslow-Cole were fully fulfilled in the second race! After a thrilling race they won the ProAm class and increased their lead in the championship to 11 points ahead of the runner-up! Fabrizio Crestani and Miguel Ramos also completed the second race very successfully and were rewarded with a very good third position in the overall standings.

In addition, Crestani drove the fastest lap several times and was the best Mercedes on the track. Congratulations to the drivers and the whole SPS team! The International GT Open is now going into the summer break, but SPS automotive performance is already scheduled for the Michelin Le Mans Cup race in Barcelona next weekend.
