SPS is back on track for the 2nd round of the International GT Open in Spa

On May 27./28. 2017, Belgium calls for the International GT Open: Spa Francorchamps. Also in Belgium the SPS AMG GT3 #20 is piloted by Valentin Pierburg  – with the support of Jules Szymkowiak.

During the Free Practice Sessions the GT3 works well on the track! Pierburg and Szymkowiak are able to place #20 between P1 and P9. In qualifying, the number 20  – started in class PRO AM – achieves as best Mercedes on track the result of P7 Overall / P4 in the own class. And there’s just a gap of 0,600 sec for the SPS AMG GT3 to pole!

The first race is promising – the # 20 fights for P5 Overall or P3 in their own class. If there was not a technical defect shortly before the end of race 1 forcing the Mercedes AMG GT3 back in box. But a second race is still on – and the cards will be shuffled again. This is racing!

New day – new luck! This in mind the Team SPS returns to the track on Sunday well prepared. Qualifying results in P18. In the course of the race the AMG GT3 pushes steadily forward –  everything runs perfectly. Due to sudden heavy rain all hopes are destroyed. Several racing cars drift off the track on slicks. Unfortunately, there is also our Mercedes, who is no longer on the race track and is colliding with the barrier.

Luck was not quite on our side here in Spa. But already in 2 weeks it goes on. The next round of the International GT Open will take place on June 10./11. 2017 in France.
À bientôt au Circuit Paul Ricard.
