SPS automotive performance looks to defend its lead at Brands Hatch

The iconic Brands Hatch circuit is the venue of the penultimate event in the Sprint Cup in the GT World Challenge Europe. SPS automotive performance and its drivers Valentin Pierburg (GER) and Dominik Baumann (AUT) travel to the British Isles as the leaders in the Pro-Am class, and are looking to defend their lead in the two one-hour races.

After a short summer break, the Sprint Cup in the GT World Challenge Europe enters a crucial phase of the season this weekend. Brands Hatch, to the southeast of London, hosts the penultimate event of this high-class SRO series. After five rounds, SPS automotive performance and its drivers Dominik Baumann and Valentin Pierburg top the standings in the Pro-Am class. Pierburg and Baumann, at the wheel of the black #20 Mercedes-AMG GT3, have finished on the podium in the Pro-Am class in each of this season’s Sprint Cup races so far, and won the class in Zandvoort in the Netherlands. They narrowly missed out on another class victory in the latest Sprint Cup event in Misano, where they crossed the line just one thousandth of a second behind the winning car after a stunning fightback. Pierburg and Baumann are now looking to defend their lead with good results in the two 60-minute races at the demanding Brands Hatch circuit. Were they to achieve that, they would travel to the finale of the Sprint Cup, in Valencia at the end of September, as championship leaders.

Both races take place on Sunday 29th August. Race one starts at 12:05 (CEST), while the lights go green for race two at 16:50 (CEST).
