SPS automotive performance lines up with two cars in Misano

This weekend, SPS automotive performance is at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the next races in the GT World Challenge Europe. This is the first Sprint Cup event of the season and sees three races held on one weekend for the first time.
Willsbach – After the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe in Imola, where the Endurance Cup race unfortunately came to a premature end for SPS automotive performance, the team from Willsbach now heads to Misano for the first races in this year’s Sprint Cup. Going in search of the team’s first points of the new season will be two Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Pro-Am class.
Christian Hook (GER) will share the cockpit of the #44 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Tom Onslow-Cole (GBR). Hook is set to contest the full season in the GT World Challenge Europe for SPS automotive performance, while Onslow-Cole will be at the wheel in the Sprint Cup races.
Valentin Pierburg (GER) and Dominik Baumann (AUT) will share driving duties in the number 20 car. Pierburg won the Pro-Am championship in the 2018 International GT Open alongside Tom Onslow-Cole. Baumann was the champion of the Blancpain GT Series in 2016 and has twice driven alongside Pierburg in the 24 Hours of Dubai.
The Sprint Cup usually features two races at each event. However, due to the condensed calendar, three races will be held at the race weekends in Misano and at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: “The season-opener in Imola obviously didn’t play out as we had imagined. We will field two cars in Misano and are again highly motivated to score our first points. Let’s see – with a little luck, a podium in our class may be possible.”
