SPS automotive performance fights for the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup championship in Valencia

The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is the scene of the final races in the Sprint Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe 2021. Valentin Pierburg (GER) and Dominik Baumann (AUT) have the chance to clinch the championship in the Pro-Am classification for SPS automotive performance in the two final 60-minute heats.

After eight rounds in the Sprint Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe, SPS automotive performance is in third place in the Pro-Am classification before the final event at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. With one class win and six further podium finishes, Valentin Pierburg and Dominik Baumann in their black Mercedes-AMG GT3 #20 have been regular guests on the podium and are in third position in the championship standings ahead of the final two races of the season, just one point down on the current runners-up. Although Pierburg and Baumann had to relinquish the lead in the standings after the last races at Brands Hatch, they still can bring the title in both the drivers’ and team standings to Willsbach with a good result. After third place overall last season, the championship would crown the positive development in this top-class racing series.

On Sunday, September 26 at 10:00 CEST, the GT World Challenge Europe will hit the track for the first race. The second race will start at 14:45 CEST.

Stephan Sohn, Team Principal SPS automotive performance: “I think we can expect an exciting battle for the championship this coming weekend. The gaps in the standings are narrow, so every little detail can be crucial. But we are well prepared and will do our best to be at the top in the end.”
