GT World Challenge Europe: SPS automotive performance targets first points in the Endurance Cup at the Nürburgring

SPS automotive performance set to resume its pursuit of points this weekend at round two of the Endurance Cup in the GT World Challenge Europe at the Nürburgring.

Willsbach – SPS automotive performance will have its sights set firmly on scoring the team’s first points in the Endurance competition in the GT World Challenge Europe when the Nürburgring hosts the only race on German soil. The 48-strong field includes 13 cars in the Pro-Am class. Christian Hook, Florian Scholze and Nico Bastian (all GER) will share the cockpit of the #44 Mercedes-AMG GT3, as they did at the season-opener in Imola. Hook, in particular, will be full of confidence following his impressive display in the Sprint Cup races in Misano: He finished fourth there in both races, behind team-mates Valentin Pierburg (GER) and Dominik Baumann (AUT), and picked up his first points in the SRO series. He also claimed a class victory on his guest appearance in the International GT Open two weeks ago. Hook and his team-mates are now targeting another good result for SPS automotive performance in the Eifel region of Germany this weekend.

The race on the Grand Prix Circuit at the legendary Nürburgring is the first of this season’s two six-hour races in GTWCE. The second six-hour race will form the season finale at Circuit Paul Ricard in November.

Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: “After the good result in Misano, we are very optimistic that we can finish in the points at the Nürburgring. We are up against some strong opposition, and it is always difficult to make any predictions for a six-hour race, but we know our own strengths, are in top form, and will be as well prepared as possible for the race.”
