What you should know about the Porsche Sports Cup

What means "Porsche Sports Cup"?

It is already since 2005 that Porsche continues its racing tradition on a special level: the Porsche Sports Cup. This series closes the gap between Porsche Driving School and the Porsche One-Make-Cups aiming at racing professionals. In total seven series within the Porsche Sports Cup (entry for drivers with as well without race-driver licence) offer a platform for both - streetcars and modified race cars. The series take place at six weekends on 5 prestigious race tracks, inter alia on the Formula 1 race tracks Hockenheimring, Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Seven exciting series in which ambitious and enthusiastic drivers compete against each other.

The race calendar 2009 schedules 6 race-weekends.

I do not hold a race-driver licence ...

Within PZ Driver's Cup ambitious Porsche drivers not being in possession of a race-driver licence are invited to extend their knowledge and skills under the guidance of expert instructors of the Porsche Sport Driving School. This series is not aiming at highspeed racing but rather at perfectioning the pilot's driving skills, every entrant should improve his own driving skills in every-day-traffic and the handling of his Porsche. The PZ Driver's Cup equips the drivers with knowledge on racing line and correct braking-behaviour, car-steering and acceleration in and after curves. At the end of each training every pilot is invited to a regularity test, in which precise timing is winning and not outright speed. The PZ Driver's Cup addresses to every Porsche driver who is longing to move his own car on a real race track under the watch of an expert instructor.

What means "Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge"?

This new championship has been brought into being only in 2009 and takes place within the Porsche Sports Cup weekends. All Cup Porsche have to be technically identical and of model year 2008 and 2009. This series is supposed to close the gap between racing-events for customers and club-members and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. These series and respective scorings aim at drivers which enjoy sheer driving pleasure. Sprintraces, endurance races, pit-stops, driver's change, passing maneuvers, starting grid and the finish - expressions that guarantee exitement.
